Due to illnesses within the family who helps sustain it, Farm Days at Cullman’s Peinhardt Living History Farm won’t be held this year.

Citing multiple family illnesses, the board of organizers that oversees the annual fall outing announced this week that all of its upcoming seasonal activities have been canceled.

“The Peinhardt Living History Farm Foundation Board has made the difficult decision to cancel all school and public events for fall 2024 due to family illness,” the board shared across social media. “Please keep the Peinhardts in your prayers and thoughts and thank you for your continued support of the PLHF.”

The cancelation affects both this year’s main Farm Days event (which originally had been scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20), as well as all upcoming school field trip visits to the farm, which customarily also occur in October.

Speaking with The Times on Tuesday, family member and retired local physician Dr. Bill Peinhardt said it’s not yet known whether future Peinhardt Living History Farm activities extending into 2025 also would be affected. He also expressed his regrets to the local volunteers who make each year’s Farm Days a success.

“I hate it for all the volunteers,” he said. “We have so many good people who all volunteer at the farm, and we definitely do appreciate all that they have done in the past.”
