Cullman City Schools address stipends

The new school year may be under way for the Cullman City School district, but with several lingering, summer stipends in need of approval for employees the city school board called a special meeting Friday, Aug. 9.

— Stipends approved during the meeting include:

  • For Head Start non-certified staff, Jenna Bates and Erika Lee, who attended medication training July 25.
  • For Lois Bice, Emiley Beckman and Sara Beth Harbison who attended medication training June 26.
  • For all teachers who attended the West Elementary leadership meeting July 24 and all teachers who attended the East Elementary leadership meeting July 29.
  • For Allie Hesterly and Meghan Block for planning and outlining the FY25 school year July 22.
  • For participating in a planning data review day at West Elementary July 30.
  • For attending STEM Vertical Alignment.
  • For attending A+ Summer Training.
  • For mentor training.
  • For new employee training for both certified and non-certified employees.

— A half-day stipend was also approved for Nicole Heptinstall for filling in as the administrator of STEM Camp at East Elementary during the Administrator’s Deep Dive July 17 and 18.

— A supplement to Cullman High School assistant principal Aaron Sparks’ contract for mentoring services provided to Tyler Skinner. Skinner was recently promoted from music teacher to assistant principal at Cullman City Primary School in June.

In other business the board:

— Approved the transfer of curriculum coordinator Lindsay Brannon to the director of academic affairs.

— Accepted the following resignations:

  • Kayla Blackmon: PreK auxiliary teacher at Cullman City Primary School.
  • Deborah Lowery: Instructional assistant at Cullman City Primary School.
  • Katie Washburn: Extended day program aide at Cullman City Primary School.
  • Jessica Williams: Child Nutrition Program worker at Cullman City Primary School.

— Approved the conditional employment of the following personnel:

  • Shara Black: Special education instructional assistant at Cullman City Primary School.
  • Tabitha Bynum: CNP worker at Cullman City Primary School.
  • David Hays: Teacher at Cullman High School.
  • Alyssa Lindsey: Special education instructional assistant at Cullman High School.
  • Misty Pearson: CNP worker.
  • Anna Sandlin: Extended day program aide at Cullman City Primary School.

— Approved 20 days of unpaid leave at the conclusion of the approved FMLA leave for Jordan Rivers.

— Approved Josh Skinner as a long-term substitute at Cullman Middle School.

— Approved a translation services contract with Yenny Laney.

— Approved Jessica McBrayer as the interim CHS head softball coach for the 2024-2025 school year.
