“I told our principal before the game if we ran full speed we’d be OK,” Estes said. “I think our kids did that tonight. It’s always fun playing in the rain and they flew around defensively. We forced a lot of turnovers and a lot of balls on the ground.”

Leeth and Hurst both found the end zone in the first half for a 12-0 halftime lead.

Hurst’s second score came with 10:26 left in the contest to make it 18-0 before Leeth capped Hanceville’s offensive production with his second touchdown shortly afterward.

The Bulldogs crafted their first shutout since 2019 (J.B. Pennington) and are now 7-0 all-time against Carbon Hill.

“Just proud of the kids and how they’ve continued to trust the process,” Estes said. “We came in on Sunday and preached about that. I think they are buying into that now. We played hard defensively and got some guys in the right position on offense for them to make plays.”

Hanceville (1-3, 1-1) hosts Oakman next week.
