LOCAL SPORTS: Fairview’s Redding named Athlete of the Week

Kolt Redding made plays all over the field for Fairview this past week.

The junior quarterback saved his best for the end, though, completing an 11-yard touchdown pass to Blake Rickard before finding Zayden Cruce on the 2-point conversion to propel the Class 5A No. 5 Aggies to a 50-49 win over Russellville in three overtimes.

Redding completed 8 of 10 passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns, registered 92 yards and another score on 16 carries and recorded 7.5 tackles on defense. He also tossed in a 39-yard kickoff return to help the Purple and Gold remain undefeated.

He is The Times’ Athlete of the Week.

Tyler Cone, Good Hope: Completed 2 of 3 passes for 55 yards and a touchdown against Curry. Had three carries for 63 yards and a touchdown.

Mason Drake, Good Hope: Had three carries for 109 yards and a touchdown against Curry.

Eli Drake, Good Hope: Had 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack and a quarterback pressure against Curry.

Callahan Lindsey, Good Hope: Had eight tackles, two tackles for loss and a quarterback pressure against Curry.

Jathan Smith, Good Hope: Had seven tackles and a quarterback pressure against Curry.

Eli Akin, Hanceville: Had seven solo tackles, four assisted tackles and two tackles for loss against Vinemont. Had a blocked punt and return for a touchdown.

Marquies Leeth, Hanceville: Had 19 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown against Vinemont. Returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Had four tackles.

Boston Gibbs, Holly Pond: Had 24 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown against Whitesburg Christian.

Sawyer Olinger, Holly Pond: Had 14 carries for 93 yards and two touchdowns against Whitesburg Christian. Had six tackles.

Gabriel Herrera, Vinemont: Had 24 carries for 219 yards and three touchdowns against Hanceville.

Brandon Johnson, Vinemont: Had six quarterback pressures and five tackles against Hanceville.

Tucker Robinson, Vinemont: Had five tackles and two quarterback pressures against Hanceville.

Hunter Hensley, West Point: Completed 9 of 15 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown against Priceville. Had nine carries for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Ollie Howell, West Point: Had 21 carries for 75 yards and two touchdowns against Priceville.

Bryant Moon, West Point: Had six catches for 135 yards and a touchdown against Priceville.
