The Alabama Cooperative Extension System will host a free local workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 14 for owners of private wells in Cullman and Blount counties who wish to learn about how to assess and improve their wells’ water quality.
Hosted by the extension service’s Private Well Program in partnership with the Geological Survey of Alabama, the workshop is a free-to-attend event and will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the Hanceville Civic Center, 902 Commercial St, Hanceville.
An opportunity to learn about well water resources in Alabama (and receive a free educational bacteria screening of your own well water), the workshop will cover the basics of well water testing and well stewardship, as well as how to test your well water, how to interpret test results, and how to select treatment options and types of treatment.
A free educational bacteria screening is available to the first 20 registrants who pick up sample bottles in advance. Supplies are limited; only 20 bottles are available at each extension office in Cullman, 402 Arnold St., NE Suite G-1, Cullman County Office Building, and Blount, 1000 Lincoln Avenue, Suite 405B, Oneonta, counties.
The event is free to attend but registration is required; visit aub.ie/hancevillewells online to register. For more information, contact either extension office using the information below:
