- Attendees enjoy the The 33rd annual Cullman County Christmas Parade in Hanceville.
The 34th annual Cullman County Christmas parade returns Saturday, Dec. 9, a week after severe weather delayed the event.
The parade begins at 12 p.m. with registration starting at 9 a.m. Participants can register the day of the parade for $5 which goes towards the Hanceville Civitan Club scholarship fund.
Participants will line up on College Drive N.W. on the campus of Wallace State Community College. The parade will roll along Main Street toward downtown Hanceville, ending at the Hanceville Fire Department on Fire Station Drive N.W.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a chance of rain, and possibly a thunderstorm in the afternoon.
“We have to have it. We won’t cancel, but if it gets bad, we’ll delay until it clears up,” said Brenda Carter with the Hanceville Civitan Club. “We’ll keep an eye on the weather radar, but right now it looks like it’s going to hold off until after 2 p.m. and the parade will be over well before that.”
The annual holiday event features area high school bands, rapid response vehicles, horses and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
