The annual Forestry Committee plant sale returns Thursday, Feb. 20 to the North Alabama Agriplex. Kicking off at 8 a.m., the sale will last until noon or until all plants are gone.
“We have a nice selection of landscape trees, small ornamental trees and flowering shrubs for $2 each,” said County Extension Coordinator Tony Glover in a press release.
This year’s sale is expected to have the largest selection ever, consisting of about 40 species of plants. Plants are all seedling bare root plants, which are easy to transplant. To learn more about what plants will be on sale, email the Cullman County Extension office at cullmancounty@auburn.edu to have a list emailed to you.
Not sure which plants will work best in your yard? Bring a sack lunch to the Agriplex for a free Lunch and Learn event on Wednesday, Feb. 19 and receive information on all the plants that will be available at the sale. The program, led by Glover, will be from noon until 1 p.m. The Agriplex is located at 1714 Tally Ho Street SW in Cullman across from Cullman Bowling Center.
All sale proceeds above expenses will go toward the Forestry Awareness Week Now (FAWN) school program for 6th graders from participating schools, and the FFA Forestry Judging contest. For more information on the plant sale, contact the Cullman County Soil and Water Conservation District at 256-734-1431 or the Cullman County Extension office at 256-737-9386.
