School supplies

Schools may be closed for the spring, but classrooms should be full again in the fall, and that means families will need supplies for the beginning of the new year.

To help make things easier on those families in Cullman, school supply kits are available for purchase online for the Cullman City School System’s primary school and elementary schools.

Cullman City Primary School PTO President Marci Watts said the kits include everything that teachers will be asking for in their supply lists at a price of $57, and when families come to their school’s open house, the kits will be already be waiting in their classrooms.

“It’s very convenient as a parent,” she said.

Students who attended Head Start in the primary school and are now getting ready to go into kindergarten will have their kits purchased for them by Head Start, Watts said.

Many people are wary of going into stores to do a lot of shopping now, so buying the kits online means families will already have their supplies ready and waiting for them — including some of the currently hard-to-find items like hand sanitizer — without having to make that shopping trip.

“They won’t have to go into the stores to buy the stuff,” she said.

Along with the convenience for parents, buying the kits also streamlines the process for teachers and ensures that students have all of the proper supplies, Watts said.

“For the teachers, it’s a lot easier for the parents to purchase supplies from the school,” she said.

Parents of children that will be attending Cullman City Primary School can visit shopttkits.com and use account number 42083, and parents of West Elementary students can visit educationalproducts.com/shoppacks and use school ID WES513.

The Primary School has a deadline of May 29 to place an order, and West Elementary’s deadline is May 20.

East Elementary School will also be selling supplies through the same site, and will likely share more information about it sometime next week, so parents should keep an eye on the East Elementary Facebook page to find out when they can buy supplies, Watts said.
