• Hueytown 10-10, Mortimer Jordan 2-3: A six-hit, five-run fifth inning put a lid on the Golden Gophers’ 10-2 victory in the first game of a doubleheader Monday at Jordan.

Jamey Hammock was 2-for-2 for the Devils.

In the nightcap, Hueytown took command with four runs in the first inning, as the Devils (22-15) scattered three hits in the 10-3 loss.

• Tabernacle Christian 19, Flint Hill Christian 1 (5 innings): Jason Wilson was 3-for-3 with a home run and a double, and Joe Zassoda was 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs for the Torches (2-6, 1-1 ACEA).

Zach Morgan struck out nine Flames and allowed three hits.

• Gardendale 6, Hayden 3: Cody Belcher struck out six Wildcats and allowed two hits in five innings Saturday. Austin Vaughn went 3-for-4 and was a home run short of hitting for the cycle.

Cameron Cooper hit an RBI single for Hayden.

SOFTBALL

• No. 1 (5A) Mortimer Jordan 4, No. 2 (3A) Sumiton Christian 1: Heather Parker pitched all seven innings, striking out four while allowing four hits.

Danae Hays drove in a run with her only hit. Shelby McGraw added an RBI single for the Devils (24-1).

Cadi Oliver drove in the Eagles’ lone run with two out in the fifth inning on a single.
