GOOD HOPE — The City of Good Hope is working to solidify its plans for the recently-purchased plot of land adjoining Municipal Park.
During Monday night’s meeting, the city council passed a resolution to enter into an agreement with St. John & Associates for engineering services on the 33-acre plot of land.
Mayor Jerry Bartlett said the firm will take a look at the land and draw up a proposal that includes trails and a pavilion the council wants on the land.
“We told them we wanted a centrally-located pavilion, and we told them we wanted at least 3.1 miles of trails, and they’re going to take the layout and they’re going to draw us up a proposal of what this should look like,” Bartlett said. “Then we will give our input and we’ll go back-and-forth until we figure out what we’re going to do.”
To help streamline further work with St. John & Associates, the council also passed a resolution to enter into an agreement with the firm that authorizes the city to work with it on an on-call basis, with a limit of $3,000 of services per month.
Bartlett said the on-call agreement will help speed up the process of working with the firm, and said he received the details of the engineering work on the new plot of land right after the council’s last meeting but had to wait for approval during Monday night’s meeting before any work could get started.
“We could have went ahead and gotten this ball rolling right after our last council meeting had we have had a contract like this,” he said.
