Third Annual Bernard Blues and BBQ in the books

- Fr. Joel Martin, President of Saint Bernard Preparatory School presents a $10,000 check to Delores Clark of Cullman for being selected the grand prize winner of the 2019 Bernard Blues and BBQ sweepstakes.
The Third Annual Bernard Blues and BBQ was a lip smacking success as the prep school’s senior class, along with other volunteers at St. Bernard, served up tasty culinary delights including pulled pork, ribs, chicken, gumbo, strawberry waffles, and sandwiches as well as a wide variety of quality arts, crafts, and entertainment.
“It was incredibly hot both days, and we are not used to being outside,” Festival Director Joyce Nix said. “While the weather is beyond our control, we made the best of the situation. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the many vendors and sponsors for participating and to all of the festival attendees and volunteers who supported the event.”
The St. Bernard Choir kicked off the event on Saturday, Sept. 14 followed by the Cotton Pickin’ Kids. Microwave Dave entertained the crowd from noon until 2 p.m. and at 3 p.m. Diedra – The Alabama Blues Queen took command of the stage, belting out a variety of crowd-pleasing hits. On Sunday, , Sept. 15 the Southern Pride Band performed followed by the De’Ja Blue Horns who closed out the entertainment lineup that afternoon, serenading the crowd with jazzy tunes.
Delores Clark of Cullman was certainly glad she attended. Not only did she enjoy the event, but she also won the grand prize sweepstakes of $10,000. Winners include:

3rd – $500: Wayne Hall, Florence
4th – $250: Joseph Bonin, Harvest
5th – $100: Sam Dunne, Hoover
