Run-off results canvassed
The Gardendale City Council canvassed the election results Tuesday from the Oct. 7 run-off election, certifying the results. In addition to the ballots cast at the Gardendale CIvic Center, the council also canvassed the 44 absentee ballots and five accepted provisional ballots. The final vote tally changed on only four of the candidates:
• Oscar Mann: 1,286 votes
• Othell Phillps: 1,988 votes
• Mike Burkett: 338 votes
• Wendell Phillips: 495 votes
New Mayor Othell Phillips and council members Peggy Tumlin, Gary Morris, Alvin Currington, Faith Harper and Wendell Phillips will be sworn in for their term on Nov. 3.
Fultondale
Council awards study
The City of Fultondale Monday night voted to authorize a $35,832 feasibility study with TRC Worldwide Engineering, Inc., for a recreational trail from Cedar Street to Black Creek Park.
The council also:
• declared two street department vehicles as surplus and donated them to the Town of Brookside
• awarded a bid of $174,500 to Dunn Construction for a resurfacing project.

‘Radio Razzle Dazzle’ tickets on sale now
The Gardendale Arts Council will present “Radio Razzle Dazzle” Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Gardendale Civic Center’s Exhibition Hall. Tickets for the dinner theater production are on sale now at the civic center for $20. Dinner will be catered by the Fish Market. For more information, call the civic center at 631-5679.

Men’s doubles day held at Moncrief Park
Round robin play for men’s tennis is scheduled for Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Moncrief Tennis Courts. Hot dogs will be provided for the participants. Players of all levels are invited. For more information, call Marie Zassoda at Gardendale Park and Recreation at 631-1740 or 365-7019.

Public works department to host fall cleanup day
The Gardendale Public Works Department will have its “Fall Cleanup Day” on Oct. 18 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents can bring any household items, with the exception of household garbage, to the brush recycling site, next to the soccer complex on Fieldstown Road.
