PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Four teams, five individuals secure sectional crowns; Several local runners, squads qualify for state meet

Four area teams and five local individuals qualified for the upcoming state cross country meet with respective sectional crowns last Thursday and Friday.
Cold Springs (Class 1A-2A) swept the titles in the Section 2 meet, while Cullman’s boys (Section 5) and St. Bernard’s boys (Section 3) triumphed in Class 6A and Class 3A, respectively.

Fairview’s boys, Holly Pond’s boys, Cullman’s girls and St. Bernard’s girls (second), Holly Pond’s girls (third), and Fairview’s girls and Vinemont’s girls (fourth) also advanced as complete squads.
The top four teams in each section, as well as the top six runners not tied to those teams, advanced to the state meet, which will take place Saturday at Oakville Indian Mounds.
Cold Springs’ Reagan Parris and Ethan Edgeworth, Cullman’s Will Thompson, Holly Pond’s Camilla Chambers and St. Bernard’s Caleb Guthery garnered individual titles following speedy efforts.
