LOCAL SPORTS: Good Hope’s Maddox named Athlete of the Week
Published 12:46 pm Wednesday, November 27, 2019
- Good Hope's Drew Maddox.
What a week for Drew Maddox.
The senior standout played exceptionally well for Good Hope’s varsity boys basketball team, propelling the Raiders to a 4-0 record, including a 3-0 performance at the Marx Optical Thanksgiving Classic.
Maddox started by dropping a career-high 38 points against Holly Pond last Thursday.
He then recorded 14 against Randolph, 21 against Brewer and 13 against West Limestone.
Maddox led Good Hope in scoring in all four games. The Raiders also erased a 13-point halftime deficit against last year’s Class 4A runner-up (West Limestone).
No surprise here — Maddox is The Times’ Athlete of the Week.
Cole Maddox and Michael Lowe also put together strong outings this past week.
Maddox amassed 16 against Holly Pond, 13 against Randolph, 15 against Brewer and 12 against West Limestone, while Lowe registered 14 against Randolph and 11 against Brewer.
Athlete of the Week, which is sponsored by Tony Serra Nissan, is open to all local athletes.
