The two suspects in the attempted robbery of Woodforest National Bank at the southside Walmart earlier this month are being held in Meridian, Mississippi.
Cullman Police Sgt. Intae Suh said the robbery attempt in Cullman on March 12 was unsuccessful. The two men, Charles B. Richey, 32, and Russell J. Shelton, 50, both of Bowling Green, Kentucky, left Cullman and again attempted a robbery at Woodforest in Meridian.
“They were unsuccessful again, due to the quick response of parties involved getting an alert with the description of Mr. Richey out to surrounding agencies and bank branches. He was apprehended by the Meridian Police Department during the attempted robbery,” Suh noted in a press release.
Shelton was apprehended in Kentucky after he left tMeridian when Richey was arrested.
Both men are charged with robbery. Warrants have been issued for both suspects in the bank robbery that occurred in Cullman.
“I would like to thank the multiple agencies involved in their arrest as well as citizens involved. Due to the cooperation of federal, state, and local agencies the suspects were quickly apprehended without incident,” Suh said.
