(CNN) – Former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore’s wife, Kayla Moore caused an uproar last year when she told the public one of their attorneys was Jewish.

Kayla Moore used the announcement as an attempt to deny claims that her husband was anti-Semitic.

The man who Kayla Moore may have been referencing, Richard Jaffe, said he was “shocked” and “disturbed” by Kayla Moore’s comments,

Jaffe said he’s unsure if he’s the person Kayla Moore was talking about when she mentioned a Jewish attorney since he’s never represented neither Roy or Kayla Moore, according to the Washington Post,

Jaffe reportedly represented Moore’s son in a 2016 case.

Roy Moore, a Republican, lost to Democrat Doug Jones in last year’s special Senate election in Alabama.

Jaffe said he backed Jones in the race, raised money for him and will attend his swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday.

The Washington Post says Jaffe and Doug Jones have been friends for decades.
