Clements was an offensive assistant at Clay-Chalkville last season, as the Cougars finished at 11-3. Before that, he served as the offensive coordinator at Pinson Valley under head coach Matt Glover.
“There are some things here at Clay-Chalkville that I’ve learned that I definitely want to carry with me. The attention to detail and how the day-to-day is. I don’t know if those kids over there have had that kind of deal,” said Clements. “I’m really excited about the fact that we get to expose them to it, to see how it’s done and have a winner’s mentality.”
In its fifth and final season under head coach Zac Willis, Corner finished fourth in Class 5A, Region 6 with an overall record of 5-6. The Jackets lost in the first round of the state playoffs at No. 6 Mae Jemison.
“I think there are some realistic goals over here: They need to host a playoff game; that’s goal No. 1,” said Clements, who plans to visit campus Friday and meet his team.
