Former Pinson Valley star found murdered

Carlos Tyrell Gray, 25, was found dead in his home on Monday evening, the victim of a homicide, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The former Pinson football player, who went on to play at NC State and then the Green Bay Packers, was reportedly found shot to death in his home on Balboa Terrace in Pinson at approximately 10 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, Gray’s girlfriend said she had seen him in the home approximately an hour earlier, left home and then returned to find his body.
On Tuesday afternoon, WBRC Fox 6, reported the sheriff’s office was investigating a kidnapping that occurred on Old Springville Road on Tuesday morning.
The kidnapping reportedly occurred when five men in two vehicles kidnapped two victims, both adult males, in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex. The report was filed by one of the victims, who got away. Upon his escape, he called the police and reported he and a friend were kidnapped at gunpoint by three men in a white Chevrolet Avalanche and two men in an Infiniti sedan.
After the report was file, WBRC also reported the Infiniti had been located with two men inside. The occupants were detained for questioning.

The second alleged kidnapping victim and the other vehicle had not been located at press time.
According to WBRC, the sheriff’s office is investigating a possible link between the homicide and kidnapping.
