Will Morrison (pitcher) and Grayson Taylor (shortstop) snagged first-team honors when the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper released its annual High School All-American Teams on Friday.

Morrison, who secured the same recognition last season, wrapped up his prep career with a fantastic senior campaign — a 8-3 record with 101 strikeouts, a 0.64 ERA and a 0.61 WHIP in 77 solid innings of work — en route being named Class 6A Pitcher of the Year.

The Auburn commit also notched a spot on the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Super All-State Team as well as AL.com’s Super All-State Team, which was also released on Friday.

Taylor, meanwhile, compiled a .364 batting average and a .486 on-base percentage during his senior season with the Bearcats.

The Belmont signee collected 43 hits, 42 RBIs, 35 runs, 19 walks, eight stolen bases, six doubles and three triples at the plate.

Cullman coach Brent Patterson had plenty to say about his dynamic duo.

“For Will, it’s icing on the cake for an outstanding career,” he said. “He’s very deserving, and we aren’t surprised by anything that rolls his way. For Grayson, it’s an awesome testament to perseverance and hard work. It’s tough to get on the national scene if they haven’t been hearing your name for a while. For him to get recognized, it’s exciting and encouraging that people are watching.

“Guys like Will and Grayson are great for the program. Unselfish kids who you know are going to take awards like this the right way. They’ve already been giving credit to their teammates.”
