Fultondale to replace outdated phone system

FULTONDALE—The Fultondale City Council on Monday approved a resolution to authorize the mayor to begin accepting proposals for a new telephone communications system for city hall. The current system is outdated and has surpassed its expected usefulness. The recommendation to upgrade the equipment came from H & H Associates. The mayor will now solicit proposals and bids and enter into a new agreement for the updated system.
In other business, the council also:
•heard the first reading of a proposed ordinance to rezone 8.47 acres located at 3006 Decatur Highway (along Honeysuckle and Highway 31) from Business-2 to Residental-2. The public hearing and second reading will be on Monday, July 9 at 6 p.m.
•approved an ordinance to annex a parcel of land at 3020 Teresa Drive into the city. Johnny Blackwell applied for the annexation.
