Although Sid’s has been selling peanuts, the store will now sell five-pound bags of boiled peanuts, as well as expanding their offerings with freezer cases and other items customers have expressed interest in.

After seven years in business and four years at its current location on Tarrant Road, Sid’s Produce has decided to expand its offerings to include items that customers have been requesting.

With the closing of Southeastern Meats in Gardendale, Sid’s owners Sid and Felicia Rasco, were hearing from regular customers that there were items they would miss.

Sid’s will now carry biscuits, crispitos, frozen vegetables—including breaded okra, frozen “school”-type pizzas, corn bread muffins and boiled peanuts (cajun and regular).

The coolers were installed last week and some items are in stock now and others will be available on Friday.

“This has always been a ‘come and get a taste before you buy’ store,” Felicia said.

That won’t change. The focus will still be on produce and providing what their customer’s want.

The store is already carrying fram fresh eggs, Amish goods, local honey and other offerings.

The store is open all year and offers produce from Florida during the winter that is more difficult to get in the area.

Sid’s is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.

Sid’s Produce is located at 723 Tarrant Road in Gardendale. You can also follow them on Facebook at Sid’s Produce Market.
