Bomb threats directed at West Point Schools and Yutaka Technologies this morning proved to be false, but deputies are remaining at the schools as a precaution.

Yutaka employees returned to work about an hour after Cullman police scanned the area with industry personnel, said Assistant Police Chief Craig Montgomery.

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office worked with school officials to search the four schools at West Point and declared the area safe.

“This morning a phone call was received at the middle school indicating a possible threat to the West Point Schools,” Cullman County Superintendent of Education Shane Barnette said.

Law enforcement was notified of the threats and is investigating at the schools and Yutaka. Barnett said students were in classes, but parents who chose to check out their children could do so.

Barnette has sent a notice to parents of the incident.
