PREP FOOTBALL: Cullman’s Plunkett out as head coach (UPDATED)

Cullman head football coach Matt Plunkett has resigned.
The move was confirmed by multiple sources Tuesday and later in a statement by Cullman City Schools Superintendent Susan Patterson.
The statement read:
“In consultation with Head Coach Matthew Plunkett after the 2018-19 football season, he has informed me of his intention to resign, effective immediately, his position of varsity football head coach. Coach Plunkett will remain employed with Cullman City Schools in a teaching position. We appreciate the hard work that Coach Plunkett put into our football program, and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Plunkett also released a statement, seen below, following his resignation.
Plunkett was hired in January 2018 and amassed a 3-7 record in his first and only season atop the football program.
