Ava Akridge (third), Reagan Parris (fourth), Ashleigh White (sixth), Emma Hancock (12th) and Ciara Calvert (19th) provided speedy efforts to help the Lady Eagles win their first state crown since 2006.

Alyssa Jackson, Sadie Terry, Allison White and Emma Collett contributed throughout the season as well.

And what a fine season it turned out to be for Cold Springs.

In addition to their state championship, the Lady Eagles won five more team titles — TCBY Invitational, Kudzu Hills Invitational, Dew It On The Trails, Cullman County meet and Class 1A/2A, Section 2 meet — and nabbed a pair of second-place showings — Pepsi XC Challenge and Jesse Owens Classic — as well.

Talk about getting the job done through and through.

And for that reason, Cold Springs’ girls cross country team is The Times’ Athlete of the Week.

Athlete of the Week, which is sponsored by Mitch Smith Chevrolet, is open to all local athletes.

Nominations can be sent to jwinfrey@cullmantimes.com with the person’s name, school and statistics.
