Local fire departments respond to a kitchen fire at Captain D's in Gardendale on Saturday night. 

In the early morning hours of Saturday, Gardendale Fire and Rescue was called to Captain D’s for a fire in the kitchen area. Fultondale Fire Department also responded to assist Gardendale. The fire was extinguished but the restaurants suffered damage and will be closed indefinitely while repairs are made. This weekend, Warrior Fire and Rescue also responded to a fire at St. James United Methodist Church, with assistance from Morris and Kimberly Fire departments. The church suffered serious damage and was forced to meet at the community center on Sunday.
