Moving’s a pain, but we hope that everyone will benefit

The North Jefferson News
This past week has been a vivid reminder of how much I hate moving.
I lived with my parents in the same house for 20 years until I got married. I moved from there to my house on McCravy Lane in Mt. Olive where I have lived since that time.
I don’t like to move. I don’t like to help people move and I don’t think it’s a good idea.
It causes back aches, sore muscles, paper cuts (or box cuts) and sweat. I am not a fan of any of these things.
Who chooses to go out and find a new residence every other year? Who wants to put up with that hassle?
I say all of this to come back to my point. We, at The North Jefferson News, are moving our offices. Of course, we are only moving across the parking lot, but it might as well be across the nation for all of the packing that we are having to do.
All file cabinets, closets, desks and hide aways must be packed up in boxes and ready to move.
I am happy to say that I have a wild card to play in this game — I’m pregnant. This gets me out of any heavy lifting, but not out of any of the packing.
You never really realize how dirty your work environment is until you start moving things that haven’t been moved in years. All I can say is, “wow” at the dust and grime we’ve found in our office.
We are happy to be moving across the street because the building is handicap accessible. This will come in handy for any of our customers who dreaded visiting our current offices due to the stairs that were involved.
We do aim to please at The North Jefferson News and it not only pleases us to move, but we think it will please our customers also.
There will be less space in our new location, but this is understandable because of the overwhelming size and wasted space in our current location. I just need a desk and a clear view of the outside in order to maintain my cool throughout the day.
The only reason I need an open view to the outside is because I leave my windows on my car down all day and when the rain comes, I don’t want to be sitting in the soggy seats.
Our group of employees are easy to please. When we get our house in order, we will be in prime working conditions.
So today we say farewell to the old North Jefferson News and a happy hello to our new location at 1110 Main Street, Gardendale. Come see us, won’t you?
