Lady Yellow Jackets drop 2-of-3 at county

The Corner Lady Yellow Jackets have played plenty of close games this season and this week in the Jefferson County tournament, they played two more close contests in three nights. The two close games turned out to be heart breakers as the Lady Jackets lost to Pinson by six and then Hueytown by three.
In between the two losses, Corner whipped Pleasant Grove by 11. Corner is now 11-9 this season.
Pinson girls 47,
Corner girls 41
Mandy Slatton, who sank one 3-pointer and was 4-of-4 from the foul line led the Lady Jackets with 13 points, followed by Nicole Russell with 12, Elizbeth Allred with eight, Haley Anderson with six and Ashley Tolbert scored two points.
Corner girls 58,
Pleasant Grove girls 47
Slatton poured in 24 points, including six 3-point shots as Corner rebounded with an easy win. The Lady Jackets built a 52-30 lead after three quarters and held off a Lady Spartan comeback attempt.
Russell added 18, Tolbert had nine, Anderson had five and Erin Tingle scored two points.
Hueytown girls 60,

Slatton continued her fine shooting from long range as she sank seven 3s to total 21 points.
Russell had a game-high 24 points as she scored nine baskets and added six free throws.
Anderson and Tolbert scored five points each and Allred had two points.
Clay-Chalkville girls 60,
Gardendale girls 32
Kristian Moody led the Lady Rockets with 17 points, as they fell to 14-6 after losing to the Lady Cougars at the county tourney.
