Former Pinson Valley head football coach Matt Glover looks on during his team's 2016 spring scrimmage. Glover awaits board approval to be the next head coach and athletics director at St. Clair County High School.

Pending board approval, former Pinson Valley head football coach and athletics director Matt Glover will accept the same position at St. Clair County High School.

Glover, who spent eight seasons with the Indians, will begin the transition as he awaits St. Clair County School District approval in May.

“I’m going to start working with them. I’ll start working the guys out in the afternoons,” said Glover. “I’ll do spring training with them and all of that stuff.”

A Springville native, Glover was enticed by the opportunity to work closer to home.

“St. Clair County is kind of home to me, so it’s a good situation and I’m excited to be there,” he continued.

The former Pinson Valley head coach was considering an assistant coaching position before St. Clair County came calling.

“This was an opportunity I could not turn down,” said Glover.

Following an 8-4 finish to the 2016 season, Glover was let go by Pinson Valley in the first week of December. From 2009 to ’16 he constructed a 50-41 record with the Indians.

The opening at Pinson Valley has not yet been filled.
