Corner student tops competition

Kaylee Grill, a fifth-grade students at Corner Middle School, recently submitted her painting, “Painted Pony” as an entry to art anthology “Celebrating Art.” Grill’s acrylic painting was selected as one of the 10 best in the country for students her age. She will receive a complimentary copy of the anthology and a $25 award.
The contest, sponsored by Celebrating Art and Dick Blick Art Materials, is an annual award.

Grill has been taking art classes with Sandy Mann at Duplex Art Studio since she was 9 years old. According to her parents “Painted Pony was created in just one hour as a gift for her mother. Grill hopes to attend art school in the future and turn her artist talents and love of animals into a career.
Grill has also won other awards for her art and is currently continuing to develop her talent and entering additional art shows.
