Letter to the Editor: Heartbroken over Memorial Gardens’ condition

- A liquid coming from a crypt at Cullman Memory Gardens, seen May 20, is raising concern among plot owners and health officials.
Again, I writing with sadness in my heart for the condition of the mausoleum at Cullman Memory Gardens.
As you well know, the doors remain locked to those of us who have loved ones entombed inside. I was horrified at what I saw through the glass of the condition inside the mausoleum – there were cobwebs, mold on the chairs, pews and condensation on the windows. My heart was broken to know that my parents’ resting place was not being taken care of.
From what I understand, the cemetery is in bankruptcy court and the state is “supposedly” taking care of this, but in my opinion they are doing a very poor job. Something or someone needs to take care of this situation. To those of us who have loved ones there, it is truly heartbreaking. Thank you.
