CPD Sgt. Chris Thomason and officer Kelly Hubbard arrested Tanya Roxanne Monroe, 36, Saturday after investigators allegedly made an undercover arrangement to buy drugs from her.

“Sgt. Thomason, investigator Justin Craft and ALEA agents previously made a controlled buy from Monroe where they purchased Suboxone,” CPD said in a release. “Monroe was on probation at the time of the arrest.”

Monroe was booked into the Cullman County Detention Center on a bond of $30,000.

In a separate arrest, CPD charged Cullman resident Chase Leanne Weeks, 22, with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, second degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Weeks’ April 16 arrest came about after officers Trey Higginbotham and Tyler Jackson made a routine traffic stop in which they, along with a K-9 unit commanded by sheriff’s deputy Kevin Bowers, allegedly discovered marijuana and methamphetamine.

“The k-9 alerted on the vehicle, at which time officers conducted a search of the vehicle,” CPD said in a release. “During the search, Officers Higginbotham and Jackson recovered a half ounce (approximately 14 grams) of methamphetamine. Officers also recovered marijuana and multiple items of drug paraphernalia from inside the vehicle.”

Weeks was booked into the Cullman County Detention Center where, according to CPD, she “was found to be in possession of more methamphetamine and was also charged with promoting prison contraband.”

Weeks has since posted bond.
