City school board OKs bid for Cullman Middle awning repair project

The awning from a walkway leading to Cullman Middle School was torn away by high winds as a storm passed by the area March 30. Power lines were down in the area around the middle school after the winds.

The Cullman city school board moved forward today on a project to repair awning damaged at Cullman Middle during a severe thunderstorm this spring. 

In a special-called meeting Wednesday, the school board voted to ratified bid results for the project, confirming Creative Aluminum was the lowest responding bidder on the job. The awning was damaged March 30 when high winds tore through the campus during afternoon thunderstorms.

In an unrelated matter, the school board approved West Elementary’s 2016-2017 textbook adoption committee. 

The next school board meeting will be 8 a.m. June 26, followed by a work session until 10 a.m.
