UPDATE: Gardendale police chase reveals stolen AR-15 rifle, loaded shotgun

These are two of the stolen guns Gardendale Police recovered this morning after an early-morning chase. 

More information on Friday morning’s police chase has become available.

At approximately 2 a.m., a Gardendale police officer attempted to stop a vehicle connected to vehicle break-ins in the Longwood subdivision. A car chase began and eventually ended in Birmingham after the suspects wrecked and fled the scene on foot.

Gardendale Police and Jefferson County sheriff deputies responded to the scene but were unable to apprehend the suspects. Their vehicle was towed from the scene and searched.

UPDATE: According to the Gardendale Police Department’s Facebook page, the suspects, which remain at large, broke into a total of three vehicles. Authorities believe those vehicles were unlocked at the time of entry.

The social media post also reveals that a stolen AR-15 rifle and a loaded shotgun were recovered from the abandoned vehicle.
