Former Mortimer Jordan and current Samford QB Devlin Hodges has been named the SoCon Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Former Mortimer Jordan quarterback Devlin Hodges lassoed multiple honors on Tuesday at the Southern Conference Football Media Day in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Coming off a record-breaking sophomore season at Samford, Hodges has been voted the SoCon Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Naturally, he’s also recognized as the first-team quarterback of the All-Southern Conference Team.

The upcoming junior currently holds numerous single-season passing records at Samford for yardage (4,088), attempts (530), completions (375), touchdowns (36) and completion percentage (70.8). He also holds the school record for total offensive yards in a single season (4,310) and most offensive plays (641).

The former Blue Devil enjoyed, perhaps, his biggest outing at Mississippi State last season when he finished with 513 total yards on 86 snaps. Both of those statistical achievements stand as single-game school records.

Hodges and the Bulldogs open the 2017 season at home against Kennesaw State on August 31.
