Martha Nell Jones Wilson, age 76 of Gardendale made her transition from this life after a courageous battle with her illness. She was a faithful member of North Gardendale Church of Christ. She started Wilson Florist in 1963 and added the wedding chapel in 1993. She was involved in many clubs. Members and past presidents of Gardendale Rotary Club, Twin Oaks Garden Club, Gardendale Chamber of Commerce, Oak Square Homeowners Association Gatlinburg, Tenn., Central Alabama Florist Association, Magnolia Ridge Homeowners Association, Women in Construction in Birmingham, Assistant Secretary of the Alabama State Independent Insurance Agents, member of the Golden Eagles, fire and ice chapter of the Red Hat Ladies, member of the Jefferson County Beautification Board, past member of North Art Council and business and professional woman, created and taught a school of professional floral design, author of “Bomingham Boy,” Gardendale History “The Next 25 Years”. Several books about old times and writer for The North Jefferson News. Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Arvle Wilson and her parents Alfred and Pauline Jones. Survivors include her daughters Anita Rouse (Mike), Rosilyn Wilson, Lynn White (George), son David Wilson (Kim), she has nine grandchildren Jason Rouse, Cara Rouse Davis, Carter Wilson, Jordan Wilson, Grace Wilson, Brett White, Gary White, Greg White, Jessica Akins and four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, brother Paul Jones (June) and sister Rena Cobia as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors that will never be forgotten. Celebration of her life will be March 30 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel at Gardendale Funeral Home with interment at Moncrief Cemetery.
