A memorial service for Anne Elizabeth Price Cox, 81, will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel at First Baptist Church in Starkville, MS.

Mrs. Cox passed away at Cullman Regional Medical Center Thursday, March 20, 2008. She was born Feb. 1, 1927 in Fayette, MS to J.H. and Mamie Price. After graduating from Brookhaven High School in Brookhaven, MS at age 16, she went to Atlanta then Washington D.C. during WWII working for the War Department. After the war she attended Mississippi State University where she was active in many campus activities. She married her husband George Earl Cox Jr. and settled in Starkville. She was the County Office Clerk for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farmers Home Administration in Oktibbeha County until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Starkville for many years. Above all she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband; 3 sisters, Jane McKinnon of Waveland, MS, Evelyn McCready of Pomona, CA, and Virginia Covington of Hattiesburg, MS; a son, Jim Cox (Alex) of Crane Hill; 3 daughters. Jane Walker (Dick) of Raleigh, NC, Laura Cox of Cullman, and Virginia Claire Cox of Raleigh, NC and Harrison ID; 4 granddaughters, Susan (Dion) Williams of Hattiesburg, Meredith (John) Jackson of Starkville, MS, Ashley Snow of Gastonia, NC and Jenny Walker of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons, Shawn Edlin of Gadsden and Jeff Walker of Columbia, SC; 6 great-grandchildren, Reagan and Allie Williams, Jordan and Drew Jackson, and Brent and Chase Snow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. Cox’s name to a hospice organization of your choice or Hospice of Cullman County, 402 4th Ave. N.E., Cullman, AL 35055. Donation forms are available at www.crmchospital.com/docs/hspdonate.pdf.

Visitation will be Tuesday 1 hour 30 minutes prior to the memorial service.
