PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Holly Pond wins area tournament title; Fairview advances to North Super Regional Tournament

Holly Pond took home its third straight area tournament crown on Tuesday, while Fairview wrapped up a spot in the North Super Regional Tournament in Huntsville, which begins on Thursday.
The seasons for Hanceville, Vinemont and West Point, however, came to an end with losses.

Class 3A, Area 11 Tournament
Holly Pond defeated Susan Moore 25-18, 25-21, 25-22 in the semifinals and J.B. Pennington 25-14, 25-23, 25-23 in the championship match to come away with its third consecutive area tournament title.
Stats were unavailable, but Taylor Martin and Antonia Smith were All-Area recipients.
“We played some of the best ball we’ve played all year,” coach Emily Brown said. “My seniors stepped up, and we ended on our home court with a championship.”
The Lady Broncos will take on Area 15 runner-up Elkmont in the North Super Regional Tournament Friday at 11:30 a.m.
Class 3A, Area 12 Tournament
Hanceville’s and Vinemont’s bid for a North Super Regional Tournament appearance ended on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to No. 2 Carbon Hill 25-5, 25-7, 25-11, while the Lady Eagles came up short against Oakman 25-16, 25-19, 25-18.

Class 5A, Area 12 Tournament
Fairview took down Curry in the semifinals 25-20, 25-21, 28-26 before falling to Hayden 25-15, 23-25, 25-15, 16-25, 18-20 in a back-and-forth championship match on Tuesday.

Fairview is scheduled to play top-ranked Lawrence County (Area 16 champion) in the North Super Regional Tournament Friday at 11 a.m.
West Point, meanwhile, battled the Lady Wildcats in five sets but fell short 17-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-15, 11-15 to end its season.
