- Former Mortimer Jordan quarterback Devlin Hodges (8) recently became Samford’s all-time leading passer with 8,204 yards in 26 games.
The yards just keep piling up for Devlin Hodges.
In a recent win over VMI, the 6-foot-1 Hodges passed Ray Nelson as Samford’s all-time leader in passing yards. He completed 26 of his 38 passes for 262 yards and a touchdown in the Oct. 7 road win, as his career total climbed to 8,204 yards on 732 completions.

He broke the 13-year-old record while competing against his younger brother Duncan, who finished 16-of-31 passing for 121 yards for the Keydets. Duncan, like his older brother, quarterbacked the Mortimer Jordan offense not so long ago.
Devlin, now a junior with the Bulldogs, has played in 26 games over the last three seasons. He entered this season as the SoCon Preseason Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 4,088 yards last fall.
Devlin graduated from Mortimer Jordan in 2014 and signed with Samford that winter. If his current rate of production is any indication of the future, the right-hander will shatter many more records before he’s done. He and the Bulldogs get back on the field this Saturday at Wofford.
