The Kimberly Police Department benefited from an action taken Tuesday night by the Morris City Council.

Council members passed a resolution to donate surplus police equipment to Kimberly after the Morris Police Department declared the items salvage.

The equipment includes two police light bars, two strobe power packs, two police Crown Victoria cages and miscellaneous wiring and brackets.

Morris Police Chief Brian Cochran said he had received a letter from the Kimberly Police Department requesting donations of any unused equipment.

Also at the meeting, Morris Senior Center director Eloise Blankenship spoke about the upcoming Morris Country Fair, scheduled for April 12, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the park across from City Hall.

Blankenship also announced that several new support groups will soon start at the senior center, including one for cancer patients and their families.

She said the first caregivers’ support group, held at the center on March 17, had nine people in attendance. That group is held every Monday, at 6 p.m.

Blankenship wants the center to host support groups every Monday night.

The April 22 council meeting time was changed in February to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
