New leaders named for mayors association

- Colony Mayor Donnis Leeth, on left, was selected as the vice-president of the Cullman County Mayor/Commissioner Association, and Holly Pond Mayor Bill Oliver assumed the role of president at the group’s meeting Wednesday.
The Cullman County Mayor/Commissioner Association has new leadership for 2018 after the group’s meeting on Wednesday at TP Country Club.

Holly Pond Mayor Bill Oliver took over as president, and Colony Mayor Donnis Leeth was chosen as the association’s new vice-president. Kenneth Kilgo was reappointed as the group’s treasurer.
Oliver thanked the other members for selecting him as the group’s president, and said he looked forward to working with the other mayors and commissioners in 2018.
“I’ll do what I can,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed meeting everybody here. I’ve really enjoyed it.”
Leeth thanked the association members for voting for him to be vice-president, and expressed how important the nomination was to him and the residents of Colony.
“When I retired from the military, I thought that was a great honor,” he said. “But this day here has gone over the mountaintop.”

* Selected Cherrie Haney as the recipient of the Lucille Galin Public Service Award.
The next meeting of the CCMCA will be on Feb. 21 at 11:30 a.m. at TP Country Club.
