Torches’ hitting leads 22-0 rout of Faith

It’s not even football season, but Tabernacle’s offense can still bury an opponent.
The Torches high-scoring football offense averaged over 50 points per game last year on their way to a state title.
Now, the Torches baseball teams is burying opponents under an avalanche of runs. The last time they took to the diamond, they crushed Faith of Athens, 22-0.
After the win, the Torches are averaging 15.5 runs per game.
Not to be outdone, Tabernacle’s pitching staff had a combined no-hitter behind the work of three pitchers.
Landon Ingle worked the first three innings and struck out six, followed by Daniel Whaley’s one inning, he struck out one, and Will Lankford threw one inning and struck out one.
At the plate, Lankford went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run. Ingle went 3-for-4 with a double.
Tabernacle is now 2-0 on the season..

The Rockets (6-6) won their opening game in the Gulf Shores Spring Break tourney behind the pitching of Conner McCain.
McCain (3-1) threw a complete game nine-hitter and struck out two while not allowing an earned run.
At the plate, Rob Mitchell went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Hunter Graveman went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Cameron Brewer went 1-for-2 with a double and a sacrifice fly with one RBI. Josh Headley went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Pinson Valley 6,
Gardendale 5
David Roberts (1-3) took the loss. He threw seven innings, allowed 13 hits, walked two and struck out three.
At the plate, Mitchell went 3-for-4 with a double. Adam Erwin went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer. Brewer went 1-for-2 with a solo home run. Headley went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
Knoxville-Bearden 6,
Gardendale 4
Lefthander Bobby Williams (0-1), pitched well, but took the loss.
He threw six innings of eight-hit ball and allowed only two earned runs. He struck out four and walked four batters.
At the plate, Trey Williamon went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Graveman went 2-for-3 with a double and Andrew Campbell went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
The Rockets (6-8) play their final game of the tournament on Wednesday morning. They return to area play next week when they host Erwin on March 24.
