The top-ranked volleyball team in Class 1A unsurprisingly won its seventh consecutive Winston County Tournament championship on Saturday, sweeping Lynn and beating Winston County twice in three sets for the title.
Addison opened the annual event with a 25-13, 25-12 triumph before sending 2A No. 2 Winston County to the loser’s bracket with a tight 26-24, 20-25, 18-16 victory. The rematch in the title tilt was just as close, with the Lady Bulldogs prevailing 25-19, 20-25, 15-12.
Maison Evans garnered MVP accolades after compiling 37 digs and two aces. The libero (defensive specialist) was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Abbie Chambless (33 kills, 10 blocks and eight digs), Allie Chambless (18 kills, six blocks, six aces and 13 digs) and Savannah Manley (12 kills, 15 blocks, three aces and six digs).
Kendra Tyree aided the championship effort with 18 digs and an ace, as did fellow senior Reagan Smothers with 14 digs and four aces.
