Fairview looks ahead with new leaders

Even with a new mayor and some new faces on the town council, the next four years of municipal government at Fairview are likely to emphasize continuity — not reinvention.
“We already have a good town,” said new Fairview Mayor Keith Henry. “We’re in pretty good shape. The previous administration has done a good job, and we just want to continue some of the good things they got started.”
Henry already knows a little bit about continuity: this isn’t his first stint as Fairview’s mayor.
“I served a term as mayor back from 1996 to 2000,” he said. “But we’ve grown some since then and a lot’s changed. But we’re overall pretty happy about where we’re headed.”
With a newly-sworn town council still getting acquainted with municipal finances and taking stock of ongoing projects, the early days of the new administration will focus more on sharing ideas and “getting on the same page,” said Henry.
“Right now,I wouldn’t want to speak in terms of anything new we might do, without getting approval from the town and the council, and seeing where everybody’s at,” he said. “But we have some good things that already are happening.
“We’re right in the middle of getting our Senior Center, which is under construction at this point. We want to see that through, and see it completed.
“We’ve also got some road projects that we want to see through; roads that we want to see paved that are coming up in the near future.”
In addition to the newly-elected Henry, Fairview’s town council also features a pair of new faces: Robert Johnson and Joseph Black. Johnson and Black join incumbent council members Norman Dye, Paula Edge and Charles Banister.
