Sara Green as Snow White and Katie Owens as Cinderella

Katie Owens of Cullman will perform in the Judson College production of the off-Broadway hit musical, “Disenchanted,” Nov. 10-12 in Alumnae Auditorium. Katie, who stars as Sleeping Beauty, is the daughter of Billy and Lynndy Carson. She is a Judson College junior majoring In Biology and Religious Studies. The play puts a new spin on the old fairy tales you know and love. In “Disenchanted,” the Disney princesses put on their own show, challenging the sugar-coated cartoon versions created in movies for maximum profit, and present instead the raw reality of the original stories. In an empowering reflection upon heritage and womanhood, the princesses are played by a racially diverse cast of characters who work hard to shatter the “Princess Complex.”

In addition to Sleeping Beauty, characters include Snow White, Cinderella, Pocahontas and other princesses made popular by Disney. Nine of Judson College’s finest soloists and seasoned actors make up the cast of this frolicking musical that has been adapted for general audiences. “Disenchanted” is directed by Dr. Billie Jean Young with musical direction by Dr. Camilla Horne. Come out and see a show that you will not soon forget

Curtain time is at 7 p.m. each evening. Admission is a nominal fee of $5.
