PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP: Warriors, Eagles close West Point tourney with wins

WEST POINT — Kolton Sapp sank four 3-pointers and picked up 16 points, propelling the home team to a 54-44 win over Priceville for third place Thursday at the West Point Christmas Tournament.
Toby Cunningham totaled 11 points for the Warriors (5-11), who outscored the Bulldogs 29-17 over the second and third quarters. Brandon Farley and Coby Sullins each secured 10 points. Sullins also swiped three steals.
Brewer hit a half-court buzzer-beater in overtime to edge Corner 54-51 for the tourney title.
West Point hosts Good Hope next Tuesday.
% Cold Springs 53, Decatur Heritage 36: The Eagles capped off the last of nine consecutive road games by handling Class 1A’s fourth-ranked team at the West Point Christmas Tournament.
Jesse Lee led a balanced effort for Cold Springs (7-8) with 18 points. Blake Wood and Fisher Willoughby joined the double-digit club with 13 and 10 points, and Eli Hamby just missed out with nine.
The Blue and Gold will finally head back to Jesse George Gymnasium next Thursday to host Hanceville.
% Holly Pond 72, New Richmond (OH) 55: The 3A No. 2 Broncos gave their well-traveled fan base one last show at the King of the Smokies Tournament in Tennessee.
Holly Pond received colossal efforts from Drew Jones (24 points) and Bailey Smith (17) to snag third place in the Pigeon Forge event and improve to 17-1 on the season.
Jones and Griffin Morris made the All-Tourney Team.
% Coffee County (Tenn.) 62, Cullman 58: Dylan Finch came away with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, but the Black and Gold couldn’t quite pull off the victory in a different bracket at the King of the Smokies Tournament.
Finch, who was named to the All-Tourney Team, was aided by fellow Bearcats Cooper Beck (10 points) and Trey Tucker (nine).
Cullman fell to 7-12 with the loss.
% Fairview 44, Holy Family 32: Luke Yarbrough had a game-high 16 points to lead the Aggies to a dougle-digit victory during the final day of the Albertville Christmas Classic.
Tyler Ball (11 points) and Sam Elrod (eight) also contributed for Fairview, which moved to 9-9.
Varsity Girls
% Cold Springs 57, Brooks 20: The 2A No. 4 Lady Eagles rebounded from their first loss with a resounding consolation victory at the West Morgan Christmas Tournament.
Camryn Crider collected 16 points as Cold Springs improved to 14-1.
“Third game in a row she’s led us,” coach Tammy West said. “She’s playing well.”
Neely Ellison and Prisca McAnnally each scored nine points, Elizabeth Hill added eight and Emme Willoughby had seven.
The Eagles wrap up tourney play Friday at 2 p.m. against Central-Florence.
% Cullman 52, Lawrence County (Ky.) 39: Victoria Barker netted 14 points, Sierra Easterwood added 13 and the Lady Bearcats outscored their out-of-state foe 19-6 in the third quarter to earn a double-digit win at the Queen of the Smokies Tournament in Sevierville, Tenn.
Anna Evans (eight points), Kennedy Wren (six) and Anna Katherine Eastman (five) also tossed in strong performances for Cullman, which is now 8-8.
The Black and Gold will wrap up their holiday escapades Friday with a 1 p.m. matchup against Lewis County (Tenn.).
% West Point 62, Childersburg 48: Olivia Ball delivered 20 points and Miriam Oldacre notched 18 to propel the Lady Warriors to an easy win at the Calera Christmas Tournament.
Mackenzie Carter and Lexi Shadix poured in seven points each for 5A No. 8 West Point (13-2), which will play in the championship game Friday at 6 p.m. against Calera.
% Colbert County 73, Holly Pond 43: The Lady Broncos dropped to 6-13 following a tough loss on the final day of the Decatur Orthopaedic Classic.
Ruth Horton scored 14 points for Holly Pond, while Kolby Holcombe, Elizabeth Miller, Presley Marks and Taylor Tankersley all had six.
