The north Jefferson Veteran’s Day ceremony this past Tuesday was great. There were people from several different communities present and Mayor Lowery said he was very honored to be a part of the ceremony. He had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lancaster from Gardendale who was in his original uniform that he came home in from the war. Part of the program consisted of reading the new names for the memorial wall, ringing of the bell, releasing of doves, folding of the flag and description given of each fold of the flag, laying of the wreath, the 21-gun salute and taps. Veteran’s Day is to honor and thank all military personnel who served in all wars, so remember them in your prayers.
• If you are shopping in Fultondale at the new shopping center, you will probably see our Fultondale Police Command Center in the parking lot. The command center will be there through the holiday season as a focal point. Our officers will be working out of it for security reasons and to prepare their reports. We will also have search groups in and around the area to help citizens in case of emergencies. We want people that shop in Fultondale to feel safe and we are here to serve.
• The Thanksgiving holiday is in just a couple of weeks and the Fultondale City Hall, Gas Department and Library will be closed Nov. 27-28 so that we can spend time with our families and we hope all of you do the same. All of us have so much to be thankful for, although we don’t admit it most of the time. If you will take a minute and look around, you will see how blessed you are.
• The next Fultondale City Council meeting will be Nov. 24 at 11:30 a.m.
• Don’t forget the 11th-annual Fultondale Mayor’s Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast on Nov. 22 at Black Creek Park. Breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. and the program begins at 8:00. The guest speaker will be Othell Phillips and there will be a special singing by Walker’s Chapel Baptist Quartet. So make plans to come on out and fellowship with us.
• Remember to pray for our Military and God Bless America!
