Last weekend, that’s exactly what both programs did.

The Warriors outlasted Parkside 46-39 for their seventh straight title Saturday at Good Hope, while the Lady Eagles bested West Point 50-33 to earn their second consecutive crown.

The Maroon and White, who polished off a 15-4 season, were led in scoring by Kobe Bowers with 21 points. Will Cochran (11), Aubrey Cleghorn (10), Carter Thorton (two), Andrew Williams (one) and Kaleb Heatherly (one).

“The boys played great,” coach Mason Voce said. “We were proud to get the streak to seven.”

Parkside, meanwhile, was paced by Jack Brown’s team-high 13 points. JT White (10), Owen Yarbrough (10), Cade Stevens (four) and Nathan Coker (two) completed the scoring.

Coach Casey White’s team finished 14-5.

The Blue and Gold girls improved on last year’s 14-3 record with a 15-1 mark this season.

Another championship trophy was just icing on the cake.

Lacey Rice provided 14 points in the finale, while Shay Sellers and Kyla Aaron each tossed in 10 points. All three Lady Eagles were named to the All-County Team.

Madison Bruer (eight), Brooke Crider (six) and Morgan Chasteen (two) rounded out the scoring for Cold Springs.

“When we saw the tournament bracket, we knew we had a tough road,” coach Brett Crider said. “We had to beat Parkside and West Point. We knew both were capable of beating us, so that’s why beating them made the championship that much sweeter. Those girls said before the season they wanted to get back and win another title. That’s what they did. I’m proud of them.”

Braelee Quinn paced the Lady Warriors (13-6) with 14 points. Kali Brown (seven), Sidney Smith (six), Destiny Sellers (four) and Lessie Allison (two) all secured buckets during the championship game.
