Virginia Ann Gray
Funeral services for Virginia Ann Gray, 86, of Logan will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2006, Frank Wood officiating, with burial in Prospect Church of Christ Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Gray died Sunday, July 23 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 18, 1919, in Lawrence County, Tenn., to Belford Ridgnell and Dora Martin Faulkner. She was a laborer with Tri-Valley Cannery in California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Steve Gray; two sons, Robert W. Gray and Steve Gray; and a grandson, Clint Gray.
Survivors include four sons, Bud (Pam) Gray of Colorado, Belford (Kathy) Gray and Billy (Gail) Gray, both of Cullman, and Andy (Jan) Gray of California; seven daughters, Margaret (Steve) Peck, Eve (Rob) Holder and Betty (“Boxer”) Lindsey, all of Cullman, Caroline (Mark) Dileo, Barbara (Wayne) Whitesell and Kimbra (Gus) Echavarria, all of California, and Patricia (Don) Striplin of Arizona; a brother, William Faulkner of Ohio; 32 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Terry Wayne Cupp
Funeral services for Terry Wayne Cupp, 54, of Hanceville will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Revs. Randy Sellers and Larue Caraway officiating, with burial in Emeus Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cupp died Sunday, July 23 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 10, 1952, in Cullman to Roy and Pauline Cagle Cupp. He was a truck driver with Wal-Mart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a stepson, Wayne Shoemaker.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Alley Cupp of Hanceville; a son, Terry Dewayne (Tabitha) Cupp Sr. of Cullman; a daughter, Tomara (Michael) Cooper of Hanceville; two stepsons, Kelvin (Tracey) Shoemaker of Hanceville and Jack Scott of Cullman; a sister, Beverly Johnson of Cullman; four grandchildren, Terry Cupp Jr., Austin Cupp, Kayla Cupp and Whitney Cupp, all of Cullman; three stepgrandchildren, Trey Shoemaker, Trent Shoemaker and Trevor Shoemaker, all of Hanceville; and his mother-in-law, Ozella Tanner.
Visitation was Monday.
Carl E. ‘Jack’ Evers
Funeral services for Carl E. “Jack” Evers, 92, of Hanceville, were Monday, July 24, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Rev. Warren Ruland officiating, and interment in Cullman City Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Evers died Saturday, July 22, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman on Aug. 30, 1913, to William Henry and Walberger Mueller “Molly” Evers.
With his brother-in-law, F.J. “Red” Humpl, Evers founded Evers-Humpl Plumbing and Heating Company in 1947. The family business served the community for 56 years before closing in Aug. 2003. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for more than 60 years and served as president of the congregation at one time. He was also on the original building committee for St. Paul’s Lutheran School. In addition, he was one of the original builders and owners of the North Cullman Shopping Center. He was on the board of directors for the Cullman Electric Co-op and served as president of the board of directors of the Alabama Rural Electric Association. Evers was a true outdoorsman. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna Jones Evers; a daughter, Molly Evers; four brothers, Otto, Herman, Bill and Chris; and a sister, Elizabeth Humpl.
Survivors include two sons, Richard (Doris) Evers of Hanceville and Steve (Babs) Evers of Gretna, La.; five grandchildren, Janeen (Rob) Gregory of Nashville, Tenn., Lucie Julia (Steve) Hallock of Newark, Del., Sam Evers of Tuscaloosa, Clay (Amy) Evers of Lindale, Texas, and Britton Evers of Baton Rouge, La.; four great-grandchildren; and special friend Wynelle Graves.
Pallbearers were Sam Evers, Clay Evers, Britton Evers, Rob Gregory, Rodger Leathers and Ron McEwen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
Visitation was Sunday.
Arlene P. Sizemore
Funeral services for Arlene P. Sizemore, 75, of Hanceville were Monday, July 24, at Moss Service Chapel, the Kevin McGrath officiating, with interment in New Hope No. 2 Cemetery.

Mrs. Sizemore died Saturday, July 22 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Oct. 13, 1930, to Stephen and Dorothy Bennett Hirst. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include a son, Steve Sizemore; two daughters, Lynne S. Hodges and Pam Smith; two grandchildren, Stephanie Danecker and Natalie Oden; and a great-grandchild, Branson Danecker.
Visitation was Sunday.
Charles Ray Watts
Funeral services for Charles Ray Watts, 58, of Addison will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Nichols Funeral Home, with burial in Addison Church of God Cemetery.

Mr. Watts passed away on Sunday, July 23. He was born on Dec. 15, 1947, in Arley to Alvie Watts and Eulene Bates Watts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Alton Bates; and two brothers, Dennis and Roy Watts.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette Watts of Addison; three sons, Tony Turner of Tifton, Ga., Mike Turner and Greg Turner, both of Addison; two daughters, Kim Watts of Vinemont and Lisa Harris of Tifton, Ga.; a brother, Alton Bates Jr. of Addison; four sisters, Marie Maze, Ann Slaten, Reba Bates, all of Addison, and Charlene Elliott of Jasper; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Martha Messer Herring
Services for Martha Messer Herring, 68, of Hanceville will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Cullman Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Nelson Hannah officiating.
Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Herring died Saturday, July 22 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Georgia. She was born on April 22, 1938, in Hartselle to Price Jewel and Eva Lee Clardy Messer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Herring; and a brother, Jack Messer.
Survivors include a son, Charles Johnson of Bowling Green, Ky.; a brother, Bob Messer of Birmingham; a sister, Jean Wann of Indiana; two grandchildren, Tyler Messer and Kaelan Messer; a special nephew, Robin Messer of Woodstock, Ga.; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Cullman Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
Laverne Fincher
Laverne Fincher passed away on Monday, July 17, 2006, in Albuqurque, N.M.
A memorial service was held in New Mexico on Thursday, July 20 at the home of Rhonda Mantheir and Jess Corley. A large number of friends and family gathered for the service and to spread her ashes near the Sandia Mountains. White balloons were released.
Ms. Fincher was born on March 16, 1943, in Cullman County to Alfred and Ruby Cash Fincher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Alton Fincher.
Survivors include two brothers, Bill (Norma) Fincher of Cullman and Al (Faye) Fincher of Decatur; and two sisters, Nona (Bud) Moon of Cullman and Bonnie (Buel) Rodgers of Macon, Ga.
Charles Hailey
Funeral services for Charles Hailey, 73, of Vinemont will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at the chapel of Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home in Covington, Ga., the Rev. Ronny Brannen officiating, with interment in Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington.
Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hailey died Saturday, July 22. The son of the late Aquilla Elliot and Ella Ruth Hailey, he lived all of his life in the Newton County, Georgia, area until 2002, where he attended County Line Baptist Church. He was employed by Uniform Rental Service for 25 years and K-Mart Corporation for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Janet Dial; a brother, Perry Hailey; and a grandson, Ben Hailey. Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Roark of Covington, Ga., Brenda Hobby of Hampton, Ga., and Tracey Morrow of Vinemont; three sons, Terry Lee Hailey and Danny Charles Hailey, both of Porterdale, Ga., and Clark Elliot Hailey of Covington, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Rutledge of Porterdale, Ga., Sara Bone and Ella Jane Turner, both of Covington, Ga.; three brothers, W.T. Hailey of Rutledge, Ga., and Luther Hailey and Billy Wayne Hailey, both of Oxford, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.
