On Thursday, the Alabama Ethics Commission certified former three-term Hanceville mayor Bobby Brown to run against incumbent Kenneth Nail.
Hanceville City Clerk Tania Wilcox said Brown will appear on the ballot with Nail, who is seeking his third term, after she received notice from the ethics commission. Brown was initially disqualified after the commission said he filed an incomplete statement of economic interest form, automatically giving Nail another four years.
However after talking with Brown Wednesday, the commission allowed him to file an amended form, qualifying him to run.
