- Gardendale sophomore Carlee McCondichie.
She’s only a sophomore in the Gardendale softball program, but Carlee McCondichie has made the biggest decision of her young career.
The first-team All-State outfielder made a verbal commitment to the Auburn Tigers on Tuesday night after weeks of discussing with her family.
McCondichie, a member of the Birmingham Boltz travel-ball team, stormed onto the high school softball scene as a freshman last spring. The right fielder served as head coach Barry Brake’s leadoff hitter as the Rockets climbed to a 40-21 overall record that ended with a No. 3 finish in the North-Central Regional Tournament in Tuscaloosa.
McCondichie swung for a .525 average at the dish with 105 hits, 35 RBI, 35 stolen bases and seven triples as a freshman for Gardendale. She fell via strikeout only four times all season.
